Friday December 27 - Red Barn Market (W. Saanich Rd)

Assalomu Alaykum Alfrescoes, Merry Christmas! On Friday December 27 2019, we will be painting at the Red Barn Market on W. Saanich Road and surrounding area. If you do not want to paint at the market itself, you can try the intersection of Wallace Drive and W. Saanich Road (just north of the market). This location offers plenty of farmland scenery. A map can be found  here . We'll meet at the market at 12:00 Noon for our Show'n'Tell.

Friday December 20 - Hatley Park Gardens

I Nhlikanhi Alfrescoes! On Friday December 20 2019, we will returning to the Hatley Park Gardens, located in Colwood on the Royal Roads University (RRU) grounds. It is a bit of a walk up to the Main Entrance of gardens (see map), but fortunately there is a Side Entrance near the parking lot (see map) that has been open in the past, so hopefully it is open this week as well.

A map to the location can be found by clicking  here . There is no charge to visit the gardens themselves but pay parking is in effect in all RRU parking lots and is $1/hour. We'll meet in front of the parking area, under the big tree (see map) at Noon for our Show'n'Tell.

Friday December 13 - Viaduct Flats and Christmas Potluck

Tervhen Alfrescoes. This Friday December 13 2019, we will be painting at Viaduct Flats and/or on Gwen and Bob's property. Parking can be found at the Viaduct Flats parking lot, near the intersection of Viaduct Avenue and Interurban Road ( here  is a map of the location).

Our Christmas Potluck is hosted by Gwen and Bob Langford (478 Viaduct Ave) just up the street. The Potluck will begin after painting around 12:00 to 12:30. Bring something yummy to share with the group. See you all there.

At the Alfrescoes Christmas Party, we will be collecting $1.00 from all those who wish to help with the maintenance of the Alfrescoes website. The funds will go to the renewal of the domain name registration i.e. alfrescoes.com. Thanks for supporting the Alfs. (and a huge thanks to Ron Wilson for running the Alfs website!)

Road Closure: Please note that Interurban Road will be closed from the south so people will have to go up to West Saanich Rd and come down Interurban from there to Viaduct. They can go up Wilkinson to West Saanich or across from Royal Oak. Sorry for the traffic, it is a headache. They have to come down from the north rather than up from the south on Interurban.

Tereq Alfrescoes. This Friday December 6 2019, we will be painting at the end of Swift Street, behind the Canoe Brew Pub (map  here ). We will meet along the walkway (see blue marker on map) at noon for our Show'n'Tell.

Friday November 29 - Frank Mitchell's Farm

Bondjoû Alfrescoes. This Friday November 29 2019, we will be returning to Frank Mitchell's farm in Metchosin. The address is 530 Witty Beach Road (map  here ). As usual, please park in the field past the house, and ensure that you close any gates after going through them. The pig barn will also be open for painters on Friday. Noon Show’n’tell will be at the house.

Sales Opportunity: Stillmeadow Farm, (which runs the farm), plans to purchase paintings of their pigs to be lent on a rotating basis to butchers and restaurants for promotion and simulating conversations with customers. They hope to buy 4 pictures (initially), for up to $150 each (watercolours, pastels or works on paper should be framed). Interested artists are invited to send photos of their work (with names of artist, title (if any), size and medium and surface (board, canvas, paper etc.) to: tomhenry@smallfarmcanada.ca.

Ẹ n lẹ Alfrescoes. Our next paint-out (Friday October 18 2019) will be at Government House (1401 Rockland Street). There is limited parking at the House but if you drive up and go past the house, take the left driveway. There is plenty of parking at the bottom. Click  here  for a map.

We can meet at noon in the glass gazebo for our Show'n'Tell, located in the front gardens (circled in red in the image below).

Friday September 27 - Cedar Hill Rec Centre

Buiti binafi Alfrescoes! This Friday September 27 2019, we will be painting at the Cedar Hill Recreation Center (a map of the location can be found  here ).

The AlFrescoes have been invited to join Saanich Parks and Recreation’s effort as part of Greater Victoria’s celebration of Culture Days, a nation-wide community celebration of arts and culture, taking place September 27-29, 2019. Saanich Parks and Recreation’s Cedar Hill Arts Centre and the Island Illustrator’s Society have teamed up to coordinate a Culture Days weekend of arts and culture activities for the community with Cedar Hill as a “hub”.

For our Show'n'Tell at Noon, we will be setting up our paintings in the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre Main Gallery, where our paintings will remain over the lunch hour. Easels will be provided for our paintings, as well as tea and coffee for the artists.

Friday September 20 - Rainbow Park

Néih Hóu Alfrescoes! This Friday, September 20 2019, we will be painting in and around Rainbow Park in Vic West, along the Songhees Walkway (map  here ). Access and parking is available at the end of both Robert Street and Russell Street. We will meet near the Songhees Walkway at Noon for our Show'n'Tell.

Friday September 13 - Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park - Eagle Beach

Moni onse Alfrescoes. This Friday September 13 2019, we will be painting at Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park - Eagle Beach (location  here ). Eagle Beach is where the rowers have their facility (just off the Pat Bay Highway). We'll meet at Noon for our Show'n'Tell in the grassy area to the east of the building (see image below).

Friday September 6 - Albert Head Lagoon

Hafa Adai Alfrescoes! This Friday August 23 2019, we will be painting at McMorran Park along Cordova Bay Road in Saanich. Park and beach access is south of the Beach House Restaurant. Directions to this location is found  here . You can park in the lot opposite the park (see map). We will meet at Noon for our Show'n'Tell on the beach in front of the park.

Friday August 16 - Chinese Cemetery

Kopisanangan Alfrescoes! On Friday August 16 2019, we will be painting at the Chinese Cemetery, located in the District of Oak Bay. A map to the location can be found by clicking here . Street parking is available on both Penzance Rd and Crescent Rd. We'll meet near the entrance to the cemetery at Noon for our Show'n'Tell.

Håfa ådai Alfrescoes! On Friday August 2 2019, we will be painting at Hatley Park Gardens, located in Colwood on the Royal Roads University (RRU) grounds. It is a bit of a walk up to the entrance to the main set of gardens (see below), as you have to walk around Hatley Castle to get to the Main Entrance to the gardens. If you enter the Italian Gardens, you cannot access the other gardens from there. You must exit and go a little further along College Road, and use the Main Entrance to access the other gardens.

сәләм Alfrescoes! Finnerty Gardens (University of Victoria) is our destination for Friday June 28 2019 (map  here ).

UofVic parking Lot 6 is the closest to the gardens and is $1.50/hour. This website provides more information about Lot 6 and Finnerty Gardens. We will have a "very brief" Show'n'Tell at Noon near the entrance to the gardens.

Friday June 21 - Beaver Lake Ponds

Haku' Alfrescoes. This Friday June 21 2019, we will be painting at the Beaver Lake Ponds. We will meet at the old barn off of Glencoe Drive at Noon for our Show'n'Tell (red square in the image below). See the  map  for the location. The image below provides another view of the location.

Om Swastyastu Alfrescoes. This Friday June 7 2019, we will be painting at the Equimalt Lagoon, along the Coburg Peninsula (map  here ). For our Show'n'Tell, we will meet at Noon at the bridge, near the north end of the peninsula. Public washrooms are available at the south end of the peninsula.

Friday March 22 - Craigdarroch Castle

Wesaþ hāle AlFrescoes!. This Friday March 22 2019, we are painting around Craigdarroch Castle. A map showing directions to the Castle can be found by clicking  here .
There is some parking on site, however, please do not overfill the lot. Leave 10 spots for regular Castle visitors. There is street parking as well. Unfortunately, there are no public washrooms available to us in the Castle, but there is a Shell gas station at Fort and Yates, at the end of Joan Crescent.

We will meet at the Southwest corner of the parking lot at Noon (see image below) for our Show'n'Tell.

Friday March 15 - Frank Mitchell's Farm

Chuu Wuganabira Alfrescoes. This Friday March 15 2019, we will be returning to Frank Mitchell's farm in Metchosin. The address is 530 Witty Beach Road (map  here ). There's parking and facilities and everyone is welcome. Parking is in the field beyond the house, follow the signs. A washroom is available and the entrance is on the side of the garage. Painter's are welcome to draw/paint in the pig barn. There is good light and shelter from the elements. Please remember to close gates behind you so the animals don't wander. We'll meet near the house at Noon for our Show'n'Tell.

Bures Alfrescoes! This Friday, February 15 2019, we will be painting at Lime Bay Park in Esquimalt. A map of the location can be found  here . The Songhees Walkway runs through the park, and the E&N Victoria Roundhouse site is just to the north. There is lots of 2 hour parking along the street. We'll meet at Noon for our Show'n'Tell at the entrance to Lime Bay Park off Catherine St/Kimta Rd (see map). Spinnakers Brewpub is close by if you feel like lunch or a sneaky bathroom break.

Friday February 1 - Belfry Theatre

Fakaalofa atu ki a mutolu Alfrescoes! This Friday February 1 2019, we are heading to the Belfry Theatre (location  here ). We'll meet at the gazebo in front of the Belfry at Noon for our Show'n'Tell.

There is Free Parking around the Belfry during the day. Please use the street parking indicated on the map below (marked in red). Do not park in the Victoria High School parking lot (shown in black below), as that parking lot is reserved, and your car will be towed.

Friday January 25 - Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse

Lotjhani Alfrescoes. On Friday January 25 2019, our paint out location will be Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Light House. The location opens at 10:00 so it is a later start than usual. I was there just recently and there was no entry fee, and parking is free. Let's hope the weather is good. A map for the location can be found  here . We'll meet towards the entrance at Noon for our Show'n'Tell.

Friday Janurary 18 - Whitehead Park, Prospect Lake

Salibonani Alfrescoes! This Friday January 18 2019, we will be painting at Whitehead Park, at the north end of Prospect Lake (map  here ). Parking is available along Prospect Lake Road and also off Goward Road. We'll meet at the Prospect Lake Road parking area at Noon for our Show'n'Tell.
