Friday May 28 - Rainbow Park

Moni onse Alfrescoes! This Friday, May 28 2021, we will be painting in and around Rainbow Park in Vic West, along the Songhees Walkway (map  here ). Access and parking is available at the end of both Robert Street and Russell Street.

NOTICE: There will NOT be a Show'n'Tell at Noon. It has proven too difficult to maintain proper social distancing at the get together. We have received complaints that artists are approaching other artists and are forgetting about social distancing. If this continues, weekly locations will no longer be posted.

Remember that we are still in the midst of a pandemic. Everyone should continue observing social distancing rules, remaining at least 2m apart from others.

If you wish, you can take a picture of your own work and send the image file to Ron Wilson, who has offered to post your work. Here are his instructions:
  • send JPGs only on Friday afternoons between noon to 4:00 pm
  • email to ronjbw@gmail.com
  • the images should be cropped and reduced to 1024 pixels on the longest edge, and 72dpi.
  • Ron can publish between 10 and 20 such images weekly.
Remember, we cannot control the public, who may wish to approach you without you noticing. Therefore, this is at your own risk, and you can choose not to participate. Friday May 21 - Island View Beach Park

Osiyo Alfrescoes. This Friday May 21 2021, we are painting at Island View Beach Park. Directions to the location can be found  here .

As message from Ron:

"This is Ron. I have been doing the Alfs for 15 years now and it's time for someone else to advance and enhance the website, if not the whole Alfrescoes group itself.

There are about 20 artists who send me images of their paintings each week -- it’s great to see how each one is painting these days.

I want someone else to take it over now please. Life’s great, I want to devote time to my family and to my art."

We would like to send a big thank you to Ron for all his hard work and dedication to the Alfs. The Alfs started in 1996. The FCA asked Delia Sansom to form an outdoor paint group which included Ron Wilson, Molly Green Mitchell, Peter Crowe and Pat Fraser. They finished painting at noon, looked at the paintings and had lunch together. Then they decided where to paint the following week. Painters have come and gone but along with his own painting, Ron has been working quietly behind the scene, posting artwork and maintaining the Alfs website. You can see more history at the bottom of the Alfs website page.
