If you do not want to paint at the market itself, you can try the intersection of Wallace Drive and W. Saanich Road (just north of the market). This location offers plenty of farmland scenery. The Songhees Walkway runs through the park, and the E&N Victoria Roundhouse site is just to the north. There is lots of 2 hour parking along the street. We'll meet at Noon for our Show'n'Tell at the entrance to Lime Bay Park off Catherine St/Kimta Rd (see map). Spinnakers Brewpub is close by if you feel like lunch or a sneaky bathroom break.

Friday October 24 - Government House

Adié zot tout' Alfrescoes. Our next paint-out (Friday October 24 2025) will be at Government House (1401 Rockland Street). There is limited parking at the House but if you drive up and go past the house, take the left driveway. There is plenty of parking at the bottom.

There is a glass gazebo on the grounds which will be useful, given it is supposed to rain this Friday.

Friday September 26 - Lady Hat Island by Salty's by the Sea

Kaselehlie maing ko Alfrescoes. This Friday, September 26 2025, we are heading to a new location in Metchosin. The owner (Jennifer) of Salty's by the Sea have graciously granted access to the grounds on their property. They do have a friendly dog on the property, so don't be alarmed. We will also have access to the beach via the private beach access adjacent to their property (see photo below).

A map of the location can be found  here . Parking is available along Duke Road. Please do not park in the driveway of the property. We will meet in the back yard at Noon for our Show'n'Tell.

Avoid using the front parking lot of Michell's Farm Market Store as this could inconvenience their customers. There is also parking along the road. Abkhazi Garden Call to Artists 2025

We are celebrating 25 years of community support for Abkhazi Garden this year.  Community members saved Abkhazi Garden from a bulldozer in 2000 and over 60 volunteers help operate the garden today.

Artists who have been painting in Abkhazi Garden are invited to participate in our Abkhazi Garden – Art Show Fundraiser.  Please let Cherie (volunteer@conservancy.bc.ca), know if you plan to participate this year.  (Some of you have which is wonderful news) Proceeds from the sale of the art will be divided evenly between the artist and The Land Conservancy of British Columbia. Funds raised for TLC will go to Abkhazi Garden.

August 10-16 – submit your art to be juried online to:

• You may submit up to 3 works for consideration.
• Artwork must be original, have been either created plein air in the garden or be an image of some part of the garden created in the studio.
• The teahouse has limited space for hanging so medium to small sizes are encouraged (no larger than 30” in finished width with frame).
• Please submit photographs of your work with the medium and anticipated finished size if framing. No work needs to be framed for jurying.
• If accepted, all art must be either framed or if a canvas, have the edges finished, and be ready to hang with wire. Please do not use sawtooth hangers.
• Please include the second page of the attached handout with this email with artist information and labels.
• Elaine Morton, BFA, artist in the Art Gallery Paint-In 2024 and 2025, and former member of the Stinking Fish Studio Tour, will be the juror. 

 

Monday, September 1 (Labour Day) – public showing of art and art sales in the garden from 11am to 4pm (weather permitting). Artists to set up easels with art for the day and to be in attendance. At 4pm, work will be taken into the teahouse and gift shop for hanging.

Tuesday, September 2 - October 13 – art hangs in the Teahouse and Gift Shop

Monday, October 13 (Thanksgiving)– public viewing of the art in the Teahouse – last day of the art show. 

Tuesday, October 14 – artists pick up remaining work between 10am-10:30am.

Friday July 4 - Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse

Adieussiatz! Alfrescoes. On Friday July 4 2025, our paint out location will be Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Light House. The location opens at 10:00 so it is a later start than usual. There is no entry fee currently, and parking is free. Let's hope the weather is good. A map for the location can be found  here .

Friday April 11 - Hatley Park Gardens

Pialli Alfrescoes! On Friday April 11 2025, we will returning to the Hatley Park Gardens, located in Colwood on the Royal Roads University (RRU) grounds. It is a bit of a walk up to the Main Entrance of gardens (see map) from the parking lot.

A map to the location can be found by clicking  here . There is no charge to visit the gardens themselves but pay parking is in effect in all RRU parking lots and is $2/hour. We'll meet in front of the parking area, under the big tree (see map) at Noon for our Show'n'Tell.

Friday April 4 - Viaduct Flats - Daffodil Fields

Hę̄r’s cē Alfrescoes. This Friday April 4 2025, we are heading to Viaduct Flats, near the Daffodil Fields (see image below) (the daffodils should be out properly now). Near the entrance to the Viaduct parking lot, there is a path to the right that will lead you to the daffodil fields ( here  is a map of the location).

We will meet at noon at Bob & Gwen's (478 Viaduct Avenue) for our Show'n'Tell. Bob will have some donated art materials to share and Gwen will have some goodies.
