Our first paint out location for 2014 (Friday January 3), will be Frank Mitchell's farm in Metchosin. There's parking and facilities and everyone is welcome.  The address is 530 Witty Beach Road.  Please remember to close gates behind you so the animals don't wander.

Friday December 13 - King's Pond / 2013 Alfrescoes Christmas Party

Seasons Greetings!  This year, Melanie Barnes, has offered her home for the annual Alfs Christmas Party.  It is a potluck, so bring a tasty dish (and some food *wink*).  If you would like to brave the cold, and paint that morning, we will meet at King's Pond, located at the north end of the Cedar Hill Golf Course, and conveniently close to Melanie's house (1283 Queensbury Ave).  We will meet for the party around noon.

Friday December 6 - Whitehead Park, Prospect Lake

Hi Alfs.  This Friday December 6 we will be painting at Whitehead Park, at the north end of Prospect Lake (map here).  Parking is available along Prospect Lake Road and also off Goward Road.  We'll meet at the Prospect Lake Road parking area at noon.

Friday November 29 - Belfry Theatre

Hi All.  This Friday we are heading back to the Belfry Theater (location here).  We'll meet at the gazebo in front of the Belfry at noon.

There is Free Parking around the Belfry during the day. Please use the street parking indicated on the map below (marked in red).  Do not park in the Victoria High School parking lot (shown in black below), as that parking lot is reserved, and your car will be towed.

Friday November 22 - Belfry Theatre

Hi All.  This Friday we will be painting near and around the Belfry Theater (location here).  We'll meet at the gazebo in front of the Belfry at noon.

There is Free Parking around the Belfry during the day. Please use the street parking indicated on the map below (marked in red).  Do not park in the Victoria High School parking lot (shown in black below), as that parking lot is reserved, and your car will be towed.

Friday October 18 - Parker Bay in Sidney

UPDATE:  Jim McFarlane has informed me that the name of the bay is Parker Bay, not Price Bay as I originally stated.  The location is the same, I just got the name wrong. Also, if you are bringing a painting for the Shoal Harbour display, please provide a label with the name of the piece and its price.

This Friday we will be painting at Parker Bay in Sidney.

Parking can be found along 5th Street.  5th Street is a dead end, but there is not as much parking available compared to most of our other locations.  If you can car pool, that would be a help.  A map of the location can be found here (map location).

Attention:  If you have a painting from the August 16 Nymph Point Park paint-out, and would like to bring it with you this Friday, there may be an opportunity to have it picked up and taken to the Mary Winspear Center for display.  Farrell Boyce, from "Friends of Shoal Harbour" has asked any interested artists to bring work with them.  He will pick it up and deliver back to your home in a day or two.  If you have any questions, you can contact Farrell at 250-656-7953, or at fmboyce@shaw.ca

Friday September 27 - Mitchells Farm

Hi.  We are off to Mitchells Farm Market this week.  It's pumpkin time again.

Please don't use the front parking lot of Mitchel's farm Market Store as could inconvenience their customers. There is a johnny behind the Store in the rear parking lot. Friday September 13 - Holland Point Park

On Friday September 13, we are heading to Holland Point Park, off Dallas Road.  We'll meet at the Pond at 12:00.

Back by popular demand ... on Friday August 23 we will be painting at Macaulay Point Park in Esquimalt.  We will meet at the picnic tables at 12:00 noon.

Friday August 16 - Nymph Point Park/Sidney North Saanich Yacht Club

Hi All.  On Friday August 16, we will be painting at Nymph Point Park/Sidney North Saanich Yacht Club. A map of this location can be found here.

This park is part of the larger Shoal Harbour area.  The Alfrescoes have been invited to paint images of the Shoal Harbour area, to call attention to its unique characteristics and its value as a migratory bird sanctuary.  For those who are interested, there is an opportunity to display works of this area at a public symposium at the Mary Winspear Centre on October 19, 2013.  For more information, please contact Farrell Boyce (fmboyce@shaw.ca).

Friday July 5 - Albert Head Lagoon

This Friday, July 5, we will be painting at Albert Head Lagoon Regional Park.  Parking is at the end of Delgada Road, and thanks to Jeanne Campbell, washroom facilities are available at her home (234 Delgada).

UPDATE: Jeanne's neighbour at 241 Delgada has offered her garden to paint if anyone is interested.

As a reminder, the Coast Collective is having a Wet Canvas Contest at their annual Acres of Art Festival this Sunday July 7, from 10:00am to 2:00pm.  Prizes are being provided by the Winston Churchill Society.

Friday June 28 - Oak Bay Marina

On Friday June 28 we will be painting at the Oak Bay Marina.

Friday June 21 - Fisherman's Wharf

This Friday we will be painting at Fisherman's Wharf.  We'll meet at the picnic tables on the wharf at noon.

Note: I chose this location because a big sale begins on Friday at Opus.

This site has been specifically chosen for Friday May 31, as we will be joined by a group of Japanese visitors who have asked to paint with us. We will meet as usual for the morning paint.  However, the visitors are only able to be with us for the afternoon, so it is suggested that you bring your lunch and a second canvas.  To make finding us easy, we will meet at noon in the parking lot beside the petting zoo.  The grassy hill, behind the lot, is a good area to get away from what could be a busy park that week-end. The Japanese visitors should arrive at 1:00pm to join us in a painting afternoon.

We are at Finnerty Gardens (University of Victoria) this Friday (May 24).  Parking lot 6 is the lot closest to Finnerty Gardens.

April 5th Tower Point Again

Hello Alfrescoes,
It was such an amazing spot we decided to return this Friday April 5th to Tower Point Metchosin. Here's the same direction as last week.

Tower Point is part of the Witty's Lagoon Park.  Tower Point is immediately east of Witty's beach.  To get to Tower Point travel out Metchosin Rd, at the Boys and Girls Farm were we have painted in the past turn left on to Duke Road.  From Duke road turn right on to Olympic View Drive.  You will come to the parking lot for Tower Point.   From the parking lot it is a short walk to the park, were there are a number of places that you can paint.

Meet in the parking lot at noon to show what you painted.

Friday March 1st 2013, Sidney Beacon Park

Hello Alfrescoes, our next paint out location will be at Sidney Beacon Park. link  Gather at noon after painting at the pavilion structure to show your work. It's usually a windy spot, so dress accordingly.

This is the spot where they have the great annual Sidney plan air paint out in the end of summer.

There is plenty of parking but it's not free unless you walk a few blocks. You can use the facilities at Capital Iron, Value Village, or other businesses.

McNeill Bay Jan 25th

Hello Alfrescoes, Our next paint out location will be at McNeill Bay in Oak Bay. This is a very scenic area but no washrooms. However, Edith Looker has offered the use of her home if needed. (553 Hampshire Rd).  Here is a map of the area. You can see the bay clearly. Parking along the street. Gather at noon on the south end of the bay. See you there.

Jan 18th 2013, Beacon Hill Park again.

Hi Everyone. We're going back to Beacon Hill Park. It's got free parking, facilities, and even shelter from the rain.  After painting let's gather at noon near the washrooms.

By the way.  Would anyone else be interested in taking over the task of scheduling the Alfrescoes Next Location? It might be nice to have a change and maybe somebody would really like to try it out. Maybe just for a year or so then someone else could do if for a while? You could do it by blog or email. Which ever you're more comfortable with.
